Glass Bauble Painting

Hello! You must be the owner of our glass bauble kits. Ready to welcome in the festive season? Enjoy a relaxing and creative hour or two painting your very own personalised baubles to brighten up the tree.

Extra tips to keep in mind

  • Minimise handling your baubles as much as you can, oils on your skin can reduce the paint’s ability to adhere.

  • It can help to balance your baubles on something whilst you paint or when leaving them to dry between coats. Our favourite solution is to cut a toilet roll inner into three and use each one as a makeshift plinth to stop them rolling away! You could also use empty yoghurt pots, or an old egg box to hold them, just be careful with wet paint sticking to them and coming away from the bauble.

  • You can also use empty yoghurt pots to mix up paints and create extra colours / tones. Otherwise, a sheet of foil works great as a makeshift paint palate.

  • To create brown, mix red with green. As you mix colours, the exact outcome will vary depending on the proportions of each colour and the tones you start with.

  • Build up bolder colours by layering paint, but patience is key! Make sure to allow thin layers to dry before painting over the top. And consider how colours will layer up, lighter paints like yellow won’t show up so clearly on darker tones.

  • Glass paint can be a bit runny if applied too thickly so make sure to paint in thin layers. You can usually cover uneven brushstrokes with extra layers once your first later has dried.
