About Me

Crafty Hen sessions are such good fun. Everyone is there for the same reason, to have a great time celebrating a special day and the happy atmosphere is infectious! I just love listening to the hens admiring each other’s work. They are always so surprised that they created such wonderful things!

My Favourite Things

My work is my hobby and my hobby is my work. I am so lucky! I work mostly with reclaimed or sustainable materials such as natural fibres, oxide paints, reclaimed wood, sea glass, and wire. My work is inspired by nature, from the mountains that surround me, to the seasons, the trees, the earth, the sea and the stars. Among my favourite creations are my copper wrapped sea glass fish, and my upcycled cotton, silk, and wool snuggle wraps. Every day brings new inspiration and a new adventure.

My Area of Expertise

I am a mixed media artist, but fibre art really excites me! I love the texture, warmth, and depth of colour of hand dyed wool and other natural fibres such as bamboo and silk. I use the techniques of wet and needle felting to create Nuno felted scarves and pictures. I sell my art at craft fairs with Lakeland Artisan and Makers Collective.

Thank you for a great afternoon of jewellery making courtesy of Katherine and her daughter Rosie. They were excellent, helpful, informative and couldn’t have been any better. Thoroughly recommend.
