Crafting a Sustainable Future

Here at Crafty Hen HQ, as a team we have long been conscious of our eco-footprint, so we’re thrilled to be awarded a certificate for taking steps towards becoming a more sustainable business by Planet Mark, in association with the Eden Project. We’re delighted to have their support and join a movement that has the future and the environment at its heart.

With the guidance of Planet Mark, we’ve taken a number of small steps and implemented big changes to improve The Crafty Hen’s carbon footprint. Here are just three ways we are working towards a sustainable future:

  • Under development right now are new workshop offerings for 2020. Keep your eyes peeled as we bring exciting new zero waste workshop options that have deliciously eco-friendly outcomes. Check back soon!

  • In the meantime, we’ve been stocking up on recycled or recyclable packaging for the craft kits in our online store. From bio-degradable plastic bag to paper parcel tape, as well as making as much of the kit contents recyclable or able to be re-purposed after their original use where possible. Look no further than our brand new Christmas Cracker Making Kits, ticking a lot of these boxes, with all the packaging and contents being recyclable, except for the lovely festive embellishments and ribbons which can easily be re-used in future craft projects.

  • Over the past year we’ve also been working closely with our suppliers to reduce waste when ordering in stock for our workshops and avoid unnecessary plastic by-products. With the positive side effect of also minimising the carbon footprint when being transported too. Hurrah!

We’re excited for the ever-changing possibilities this path will take us down. Whilst we can’t say we’re 100% sustainable or plastic-free right here and now, we are constantly on the lookout for new ways to move in the right direction, one step at a time. And in turn, we’re keen to promote these values with our entire UK-wide team and wonderful Crafty Hens as well.

So here’s to crafting a sustainable future!
